This occurred while Abu Mazen was negotiating with them about extending the Hudna. About 20 people are dead (including children and babies) and a 170 wounded. The bombing did not occur because Israel is building a fence, nor did it really occur because Israel killed an Islamic Jihad leader. It occurred because Israel was going to hand over more territory to the PNA, which would be a success for the moderates and the peace process, and a failure for Islamic Jihad and the fanatix. The bombing (and it will probably not be the last) will make it much more difficult for the Israeli gov't to make concessions. It is clear that Abu-Mazen will need to take some action against Islamic Jihad, both because of Israeli/US pressure and because of the challenge offered to his leadership. add your comments

I agree with you that Hamas and Jihad just look for excuses, but I am also sure that the Army and government consciously provoke these attacks by incursions and hisulim. The Government purposefully gives them the excuse. Sharon didn't want the Hudna to last. It would have eventually led to pressure on Israel for concessions. I am sure that they will not accept my opinion, and I can not blame them for that. In addition, we have been in this scenario too many times already. Is somebody sincerely believed that by not retaliating we will end the violence? Have we forgotten the opening of the Hudna when Israeli citizens murdered without any “Provocation”, “Retaliation” and other vegetables? Being frightened and helpless like you are is gravely dangerous. Take some deep breath and start activating the “gray staff” up there. I think such actions take planning and preparation so they have been in the works for some time now. Could it be that everything is ready and waiting to go as soon as Israel does something? Possible, but as possible that it would occur anyhow. I do not think it matters. This is a war crime from the worse kind. No excuses for it. Not HIsulim, not arrests. Such act is a war crime collective punishment toward the Jewish people and it is time that the Palestinian side will understand what terrible karma they take upon themselves by not putting an end to it. Is it possible that this attack was already planned and the hisul/arrest attempt in Hebron was trying to prevent it. It is possible but it does not matter. Isarel must end the occupation and everything associated with it (Hisulim, settlements etc...) but Palestinians must stop the terror if they want the Israeli public to pressure the government to end the occupation. Occupation and terror feeds each other but Israelis FEAR that terror will continue even if occupation will stop. There are so many Palestinians who see Israel - as a whole - as occupied territory (See Hammas web sites, see Saג€™at speech in Lebanon) - this leads many Israelis to say: “Why should we give them a part of the land if they want it all.” Q: Sharon didn't want the Hudna to last.
