It seems that the army has decided to try and brake the village and its popular resistance by arrests and use of violence. Invading the village, armed soldiers almost reached the village center while shooting rubber bullets, metal coated bullets, live ammunition and tear gas while wounding many young boys that were hit in their stomaches, backs and faces.

Goldstone Facts

On September 15th 2009, the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission led by Justice Richard Goldstone released its report (executive summary can be found here) on the Israeli invasion of Gaza. The report concluded that there exists strong evidence indicating serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law by Israel and Hamas during the Gaza conflict. The report emphasized that Israel and Hamas committed actions amounting to war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity.

Date: 12/02/2010-The village of Bil’in reenacted James Cameron's new film Avatar during today’s weekly demonstration. Five Palestinian, Israeli and international activists were painted blue, with pointy ears and tales, resembling the Avatar characters. Like Palestinians, the Avatars fight imperialism, although the colonizers have different origins. The Avatars’ presence in Bil’in today symbolizes the united resistance to imperialism of all kinds.

The Nonviolent Resistance is winning.

After five years of popular resistance in Bil'in, through which people of Bil'in
have shown an excellent example of challenge and peaceful resistance, and which
confused the enemy and made him wonder what to do against this form of peaceful
resistance. First violence was used, becoming more and more excessive, with severe
beatings, then use of all kinds of weapons, arrests of militants, incursions and
curfews at night, and finally murder.

Anniversary of Hampshire College's "Divestment" from Israeli Companies

February 7th marks the anniversary of Hampshire College's "divestment" from the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, the first institution of higher education to wash its hands of the systematic exploitation of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state. Following a two-year campaign by Students for Justice in Palestine, the Board of Trustees agreed in 2009 to withdraw its investments from six companies targeted by SJP because they profit from the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Officials at Hampshire college maintain that the withdrawal of investments from the companies was not a divestment from Israeli companies in general.

Traditionally, Hampshire College has advocated for the oppressed, taking unpopular stands when others have preferred to turn away. In 1977 Hampshire College was the first college in the US to divest from Apartheid South Africa. In 2001 Hampshire was the first college to object to the war in Afghanistan.

הבוקר בשעה 7:30 לערך, אנשי המנהל בליווי מספר רב של שוטרים, אנשי מג"ב והסיירת הירוקה פשטו על התושבים הבדואים ממשפחת אל טורי החיים בל-ערקיב. באמצעות 6 טרקטורים החלו בהרס של שדות תבואה ושעורה שנזרעו בחודש נובמבר על שטח של כ-1600 דונמים. תושבים של הכפר שהביע את התנגדותם למעשה המביש רוססו בגז מדמיע, כמה ילדים שנפגעו בעיניהם נזקקו לטיפול.

מחר, יום ה' 11 לפברואר בשעה 10:00, יעיד פרופ' אורן יפתחאל מאוניברסיטת בן גוריון במשפט שמנהל פעיל זכויות הבדואים נורי אל עוקבי בדרישה להחזיר לו ולשבטו את האדמות מהן גורשו בשנת 1951 באזור אל ערקיב שמצפון מערב לבאר שבע. הדיון מתקיים בבית המשפט המחוזי אצל השופטת שרה דברת (קומה 5). יפתחאל יציג חוות דעת מקצועית, על בסיס מחקרים שניהל במשך שנים, המוכיחה כי הבדואים בנגב החזיקו בבעלות על קרקעות במשך דורות רבים לפני הקמת מדינת ישראל. "אין המדובר רק בי ובשבט שלי ובאדמות הפרטיות שנזלו מאיתנו. זהו מאבקם של הבדואים בנגב כולם להוכיח כי אלה אדמותינו ואדמות אבותינו, בניגוד לשקר כאילו מדובר ב'אדמות מדינה' אשר הבדואים כביכול "פולשים" אליהן. אומר נורי אל עוקבי.

Settlement Products Depot Blockaded in London كارمل أجريسكوا وكارجو فلورا لاحتجاج

Carmel Agrexco and Cargoflora's depots in Hayes Middlesex, London, UK were blockaded early this morning. The depots gates were blocked by protesters using D-Locks and Hares fencing. Cargoflora staff use force to remove protesters blocking their gates. Police looked on as workers wrenched open the metal gates, which were still D-Locked to the necks of the blockaders.

10 people were injured by rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas cannisters in today’s demonstration in An-Nabi Salih village, in the north Ramallah region, against the expansion of the illegal Halamish settlement on to village lands.

מכות, מעצרים, הריסות בתים ויבולים בכפרים הבלתי מוכרים ומה אתם יכולים לעשות!

שלשום, יום שלישי, המדינה הרסה שדות בכפר אל-מזרעה. מה זאת אומרת "שדות"? הכפר ממוקם בין ערד לבין הישוב הבדואי ערערה. כמובן – כמו כל שאר החקלאים הבדואים אין לחקלאי המקום גישה למים להשקיה, והם תלויים בחסדי שמיים. במקום יורדים 50 מ"מ ממוצע בשנה. כלומר החיטה הגיעה לגובה דשא. בסופו של דבר תשמש החיטה כמרעה למעט כבשים ועזים שיש לבני הכפר הקטן והעני. השנה, ייתכן שאלוהים אפילו רצה שהחיטה תהיה יותר טובה מאשר בשנים קודמות, ונתן מעט יותר מטר. אבל עינם של אנשי הממשל צרה – ומנעו את ההנאה הזו מהכבשים והעזים של תושבי הכפר. המדינה: אנשי הסיירת ה"ירוקה", ובעזרת המשטרה, שלחו טרקטורים בכדי "לחרוש" את האדמה – ולהרוס כ 1000 דונם בסך הכול - את מעט היבול שהצליחו בני הכפר (וכפרים שכנים) להוציא מאדמת המדבר. התירוץ: זו לא אדמתם (האדמה בתביעות בעלות מאז 1970...). הסיבה: הם ערבים.
