PCR Chair Wanted by Israeli Military over nonviolence involvement

Dear All,

Last night, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at around 1:30 am, Israeli troops went to the house of Dr. Mazin Qumsiyeh, Chair of the Board of the Rapprochement Center and left a warrant demanding him to appear at the Israeli Military headquarter in Gosh Etzion colonyon Monday. Of course he would not make that appointment since he will still be in the United States, where he is now. Apparently this act a result of Dr. Qumsiyeh's involvement in nonviolent protests in Osh Ghrab and his advocacy work for peace and justice in the region, nothing else.

We condemn this Israeli act that is clear violation of human rights and rights of freedom of expression,, , by the "Only democracy in the Middle East"

The battle in Osh Ghrab against military action and settler activity will continue despite of their threat,,

ביום שלישי ה-23.2.2010, רעו שני בני משפחה מהכפר הפלסטיני טובה, שבדרום הר חברון, את עדר המשפחה על אדמתם. ארבעה חיילים הגיעו למקום מהתנחלות מעון והחלו לגרשם מאדמתם. בני משפחה אשר באו לבקש מן החיילים לעזוב את הרועים לנפשם אוימו, ואחד אף הוכה. החיילים עצרו את אחד הרועים, חליל איברהים אבו-ג'ונדייה, בטענה שתקפם. פעילי זכויות אדם בינלאומיים שנכחו במקום מעידים שחליל לא תקף את החיילים. צילומי הוידיאו מאששים עדות זו.

On Tuesday, 23rd February, 2010, two family members from Tuba village, in the South Hebron Hills, were herding their family's flocks on the family's land. Four soldiers came from the settlement Maon and started driving them out. Other family members who came asked them to leave the shepherds alone, but were threatened, and one was beaten up. The soldiers arrested one of the shepherds, Khalil Ibrahim Abu Jundiya, claiming he had assaulted them. International human rights activists , who were witnesses, testify that Khalil did not attack the soldiers. Video recorded confirms this.
