No to the Apartheid Wall by The Jewish Militia Against Apartheid 5:23pm Sat Feb 8 '03 The Apartheid wall will not fulfill its proclaimed destiny - It will provide security for the citizens of Israel. The separation policies, land theft, home demolitions and hardening Palestiniansג€™ life is only increasing terror and is actively preventing any hope for peaceful joint life between Palestinians and Israelis. The only way to establish security for Israelis is through a just solution to the conflict, promising equality to every man and woman. There are not walls high enough or trenches deep enough to prevent the oppressed from demanding equality. A separation wall is being constructed. Under false claims of security and anti-terrorism the Israeli government is committing yet another crime. The so-called separation barrier is actually an 8 meters high concrete wall at some places and trenches, multiple fences and security roads in others. Contradictory to common perception, the separation barrierג€™s route is not one with the international border (the green line), and is serving the interests of the areaג€™s settlements. In the Qalqilia district, for instance, more than ten villages residing west of the barrier will have most or all of their agricultural land east of the barrier and therefore inaccessible. Prevented from accessing both the occupied territories behind the wall and Israel these villages will be practically isolated. Additionally, tens of villages east of the barrier will be severed from their land and livelihood by it. The ministry of defense is not very reluctant of giving information about the size of the land or the number of houses to be confiscated, but according to estimations made by Palestinians around 80,000 dunams of agricultural land are to be stolen and hundreds of families will lose their livelihood. the oppressed demanding equality. by Jacob Suslovich 5:50am Mon Jun 16 '03 print comment Is it "equality" that the Arabs have been demanding since the inception of the State of Israel? Or is it the obliteration of any Jew who wishes to live in Israel? Did the Arabs who wiped out the Jewish community of Hebron in the Arab riots of the 1920's do so because they were oppressed by the Jews? Did the Arab armies that attacked in 1948 seek to impose a just peace of equals? Did Nasser of Egypt mass his armies on the border of the Sinai in 1967, make fiery speeches promising to drive the Jews into the sea, and order the UN peace keeping force to get out of his way (which they did) because he felt Israeli society was apartheid? Does Hamas seek civil rights and equality for the Arabs of Israel when it speaks of killing every Zionist (i.e. every Jew who dares live in Israel)? Your pious mouthings of platitudes have no meaning in the context of the reality that exists in the hearts and minds of a large segment of the Arab population. The only alternatives to the Israeli actions that you constantly deplore are to take even harsher action or to commit suicide. I hope the wall works well enough to preclude either of these options although, on this point I agree, it probably will not. add your comments
