IDF troops open fire to stop fence protest, injuring five

By Arnon Regular and Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondents, and Haaretz Service

Israel Defense Forces soldiers fired tear gas and
rubber bullets on Monday to break up a protest
against Israel's construction of a security fence
in the West Bank, lightly wounding five members of
the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity
Movement.

One of the five - an American -
was struck in the leg at close
range during the clashes near
the West Bank village of Anin
and was taken to a hospital,
Israeli demonstrator Yonatan
Pollak said.

The other four protesters were
treated at the scene after

being struck in the back and stomach, he said.
He did not give their nationalities.

The troops opened fire after about 300
protesters gathered on both sides of the
barrier and tried to tear down a gate in the
fence.

Israel says it needs the fence to keep out
suicide bombers, citing the success of the
fence surrounding the Gaza Strip. But
Palestinians fear that the barrier, due to cut
deep into the West Bank, is intended to
unilaterally set the borders of their envisaged
state.

The fence is expected to be on the agenda when
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon meets U.S.
President George W. Bush in Washington on
Tuesday. Bush has described the fence as a
"problem."

Illegal oupost dismantled near Hebron
IDF and police forces Monday morning evacuated
an illegal outpost comprised of several tents
and a shack in an area between Hebron and the
settlement of Kiryat Arba.

IDF troops discovered and dismantled several
bombs Monday morning, three in the north of
Israel, and one in the West Bank.

Near Hebron, security forces taking down the
outposts arrested two settlers at the site. The
forces were searching for a third settler who
fled the area.

Several bombs discovered in north and West Ban

A medium size roadside bomb was found and safely
defused Monday north of Kibbutz Merav, near
Mount Gilboa in the north. IDF troops combing
the area after the device was discovered found
two more roadside bombs.

Near the West Bank village of Jilaboun, east of
Jenin, IDF forces exposed a large bomb weighing
several Kilograms. The bomb to be operated
using a tripwire made of fishing line. The
forces also found three pipe bombs in the
vicinity.

In the Gaza Strip on Sunday night, two mortars
shells were fired near the settlement of
Netzarim. Both landed in Palestinian territory.
No injuries or damage were reported.

In an overnight raid, IDF forces arrested for
questioning seven Palestinians in the West Bank
village of Beit Fureiq, south of Nablus.

Early Monday, Palestinian militants opened fire
at IDF soldiers near Nablus. There were no
injuries among the soldiers, and their vehicle
was slightly damaged.

this fence is in self defense,
and so is to be built anywhere the defensive party deems it appropriate.

Why not build it beyond Iraq, the new headquarters of jr and company`

The Brown folks are more barbaric in GENERAL then their European counterparts.
That was true in Algeria, in North- central and south America and finally in the Mideast.
They are deprived of civility and are way BEYOND primitive to be the legal guardians of their own natural resources.
They have sat on oil for millenia and have yet to pump all of it...
Unlike that cave men parasite who lacks the intellectual prowess to do so, the white man has stepped in to Capitalize on the obvious
